At the heart of Paul’s work is the therapeutic relationship with his clients. Built on trust, openness, and confidentiality, it offers a space where you can speak freely and feel truly heard.
Drawing on both lived experience and trainings in Integrative Counselling and NLP, Paul’s approach is thoughtful and attentive. Listening deeply, with curiosity and care, he works alongside you to explore what matters, gently supporting a move towards understanding and change.
"I have always been impressed by Paul's natural instinct to connect with and listen to people in distress or facing life changing circumstances."
The counselling relationship is built upon trust and confidentiality. Voicing our pain, our longing, our burdens without fear of judgement is key to the process of moving towards healing and change.
Developing an awareness of ourselves as made up of many parts and becoming curious about which part we are currently experiencing allows for a progression towards greater inner balance and stability - where all parts can be welcomed.
Paul’s role is to walk beside you with empathy - your feelings shared and understood. This fosters reassurance and resilience, supporting the counselling process as work moves gently into areas of vulnerability and deeper challenge.
Time is a great healer. Emotional and physical pain can be transformed when we give the mind and body time to recover. The pace of your sessions is dictated by you, we move according to your sense of safety and tolerance.
The healing process can contain important milestones - better sleep, kindness to self, confidence at work, more cuddles, more laughter, acceptance of imperfection, more compassion. As we achieve and acknowledge progress, we lay down new foundations for positive flourishing
In quiet moments
Cultivating the conditions for change
For over 30 years, Paul’s work as a garden designer has been rooted in close creative collaboration with people and the land around their homes. Watching seasons shift, times of growth, of stillness, of quiet renewal, has deepened his understanding of how change unfolds. Working with depleted or overgrown soil, he learned to look beneath the surface.
Paul’s counselling follows a similar path. Unearthing patterns, thoughts, and feelings that may have taken hold over time and which no longer serve us. A gentle and courageous process of exploring what lies within emotions that we find troubling and challenging.
Counselling helps us unearth the reasons for our current lack of flourishing. Through understanding and attention, it opens space for healing, acceptance, and new growth.
